CMH Lab Section
Flow Cytometry

Specimen Requirements
3 mL of blood in EDTA lavendar tube

Turn Around Time
48 hours

Special Instructions
Specimens must be <24 hours old when recieved in the Flow Cytometry Lab

Friday: Specimens must be drawn and recieved in the Flow Cytometry Lab before 1400.

Granulocytes are stimulated with Phorbol 12-Myristate 13-Acetate (PMA). Measurements of unstimulated and stimulated granulocytes are compared.

Testing measures the upregulation of CD11b & CD18 adhesion molecules which is useful in diagnosis of Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency (LAD) or Lazy Leukocyte Syndrome.
