Educational Programs

The role of the ID specialist as educator has been a focal point for this section for many years. Individually recognized for excellence in education, the Section was recognized in 2009 as the Outstanding Teaching Section in the institution by vote of the pediatric resident staff.

On the national front, ID faculty members are well recognized as leading educators. Dr. Jackson currently serves on the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases (otherwise known as the Red Book Committee) and is the medical editor for the American Board of Pediatrics ID subboard. Dr. Harrison serves as the chairman of the PIDS Clinical Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Vaccine Advocacy Task Force.
