Why do they put this on my finger?

This is called a pulse oximeter, and it helps tell the doctors how well you are breathing. It measures how much air is in your blood. There's a bandaid with a light on it that shines on your finger (or paw, in my case), like your flashlight at home. Don't worry, it never gets hot and it doesn't hurt a bit.
