Thank you for your interest in our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program at Children’s Mercy Hospital.  We are proud of our fellowship and hope you will consider furthering your education with us. 

Our program provides fellows with a comprehensive education that covers all aspects of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.  The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology includes the Section of Hematology with a strong Sickle Cell Program that follows approximately 300 sickle cell patients, a Regional Hemophilia Treatment Center, and an active Coagulation/Thrombosis service.  The Section of Oncology is comprised of the Oncology Program and the Bone Marrow Transplant Program.  With approximately 150-160 new oncology diagnoses per year, our Oncology program is one of the larger programs in the United States.  Our bone marrow transplant program provides experience in the full range of transplant activity including unrelated and related donor transplants for both malignant and non-malignant diseases.

We are proud of the team approach that our patients receive through the Division of Hematology/Oncology.  Our group of experienced physicians has received national recognition in the areas of Sickle Cell, Hemophilia, and Oncology.

Each physician works with an advanced practice nurse or physician assistant and a social worker to provide comprehensive care to our patients and families.  Additional support staff includes child life, pharmacy, chaplaincy, psychology, music therapy and research coordinators. Our state-of-the art facility includes a 25 bed unit with 5 BMT beds, an onsite clinic and two infusion rooms.
