Polyposis Center Genetic Testing
Polyposis Center Genetic Testing

Genetic testing is available for parents of children with certain polyp types or a family history that may be connected to polyp syndromes such as:

  • Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
  • Juvenile polyposis syndrome (JPS)
  • Peutz jeghers syndrome (PJS)

Most gene tests are simple blood tests that help diagnose hereditary gastrointestinal polyposis or syndromes known to cause cancer.

Pretest counseling

Before genetic counseling is conducted, patients and parents will receive counseling about possible financial, psychological and medical consequences. It is important to fully understand hereditary polyps and related syndromes and the serious health effects connected to them, including certain cancers. Our team is dedicated to ensuring all patients and family members understand their test results and available treatment options.
