Most of us remember the glamour makeover photos that were popular in the early 1990s. The photos made great gifts to loved ones or a great conversation starter today. The one place I would not recommend posting the picture is on your LinkedIn Profile. I’m usually on LinkedIn several times a day and every so often a picture pops up and I have to think to myself “No way! Who would use this photo for a professional social networking site?”

I also have seen photos of couples, proud parents showing off their child or puppy and party pics. When you are in the job market, it is imperative that you represent yourself in the best way possible. It is best to use a professional looking photo for your LinkedIn profile. I would also suggest changing your Facebook and Twitter profiles to a more professional look while in the job market. You don’t need to go to a professional photographer for the photo, just a camera phone will do but it should be a straight face shot. Make sure your attire is also professional.

I’m sure you have heard of the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Make sure your picture screams out you are the right person for the job.
